Q: What if I want to develop my own DVDs, CDs, books, or any other materials featuring TAT®? Is that okay?
A: That's not okay, ethical, or legal. It's a Federal crime to infringe on someone’s trademarks and copyrighted material. Tapas as the owner of the registered trademarks, TAT®, Tapas Acupressure Technique® and TATLife®, has the exclusive right to use these trademarks. No one may use any of these trademarks without permission.
All of the publications products, and website pages, including written, audio, and video materials, produced by TATLife are copyrighted. Under Federal copyright law, TATLife has the exclusive right to reproduce its TAT materials and to prepare derivative works based on TATLife’s materials. Therefore, for someone to develop their own materials using TAT without permission is not only trademark infringement but also copyright infringement. If someone wants to use the name TAT or the TAT Steps/Protocol or the free downloadable How To Do TAT booklet, especially in a book, DVD, CD, or downloadable materials, they need to contact TATLife and we will go from there.
Anyone is welcome to create a link at their website to the signup page for the free downloadable booklet without contacting us first.
TAT teaching materials are owned by TATLife. If you are interested in creating teaching materials, such as DVDs, books, etc., TATLife will license the right to sell it to you if your proposed material is accepted. When you contact TATLife about materials you'd like to create, please include a business plan for marketing the product and a description of the material. You will need a written contract before you create any TAT materials. Any material that discusses or demonstrates using TAT with others can only be created by certified TAT Professionals. Any material that teaches how to use TAT can only be created by a certified TAT Trainer.
Q: What does trademark mean?
A: A trademark is a word, name, symbol, or device which is used in trade with goods and/or services to indicate the source of the goods and services and to distinguish them from the goods and services of others. So the trademarks TAT®, Tapas Acupressure Technique® and TATLife® embody the integrity and goodwill that Tapas has developed over the years as the creator of TAT and they distinguish TAT from other healing modalities. It means that only people who have written authorization from Tapas Fleming can use the trademarks in their advertising or in documents or materials they produce. One of the key benefits of the Certification Program is that Certified TAT Trainers and Professionals have earned the right and are authorized use the TAT trademark on their business cards and in their advertising.
Q: What if I want to translate TAT® materials into other languages?
A: We love being able to offer our materials in other languages and value help with translations. If you would like to translate the free download, please write to Julie. If you are interested in translating other materials, contact Sara. Please be advised that you must have TATLife’s prior permission before translating any TAT materials.
