Sitting in my living room, it’s hard to believe that it’s already been a month since the Symposium. What a great time we had – laughing, connecting, and sharing the power of group healings with TAT.

Most of our overeating and poor diet stem from stress. All the awful things that have happened to us – times we’ve been hurt, lonely, sad, frustrated - can easily end up in excess weight.
There are hardly any fast, easy, great ways to really get rid of stress like that once and for all. Some diets can help you lose weight, but they’re rarely fun and, by not addressing the issues that cause the weight gain, they don’t do anything to keep the weight off. Sue Maahs enrolled in Kaiser’s first NIH-funded study on TAT for weight loss maintenance.
Even though she had already lost 40 pounds, she still craved the “killer brownies” in her company cafeteria every day, and had a hard time resisting them. She did TAT on her craving. The next day, she didn’t even think about the brownies.
The pilot study showed that TAT worked best for weight loss maintenance. Kaiser now has a second study underway with 500 participants.

I noticed at one point that every time I hugged someone, it hurt. It turned out that I had stage 3 breast cancer (it was big and had metastasized to my armpit). After one TAT session, the pain and inflammation that I’d had for months left and never came back. Using TAT and other mostly holistic approaches, the cancer completely healed. That was over six years ago.
A year ago, we had a workshop on using TAT for physical conditions. TAT Trainer John Blum was there and volunteered for one of the demos I was doing. He worked on his problems with his back, which had been hurting him a lot.
I talked to John recently to find out how his back is doing now. He told me that the TAT session we did together tremendously improved how his back felt and that the pain has gone from a 7 or 8 (on a scale of 0-10) to a 1 or 2 – when it even hurts. What I found really exciting was his description of how the healing was multi-faceted — improving his relationship with his father who died not long after the workshop, his body (he’s started exercising after avoiding it for 30 years), and even with his back itself.

We’ll each put our wishes for the life we want for ourselves and all of us on the planet into a big bundle, do TAT, and enjoy each other’s company. Our wishes can include everything we want – our own personal wishes for things we want to have, do and be and how we’d like life in general to be. We’ll envision and feel our wishes as true in the present moment as we do TAT together and set the tone for the coming year.
